Sylvanvale commenced in 1947 as the Handicapped Children’s Centre of NSW and has recently commenced trading as Sylvanvale Disability Services. We are one of Australia’s oldest disability support providers.
We are an Australian Charity and not for profit organisation and offer high quality support, education, training, and employment to help children and adults with disabilities fulfil their potential and to lead rewarding and active lives.
Although we receive government support, donations in many shapes and sizes ensure our programs and services continue. Why do we need this support?
- More than 250 people with disabilities are provided with jobs, training, therapy and community opportunities.
- Over 300 people are employed by Sylvanvale in the Shire and the Blue Mountains.
- More then 60 disabled people are supported in residential accommodation and community housing.
- Early learning classes provide support, training and education to young children.
- High support classes provide education and support to disabled children with high needs.
- Therapy Services are available from occupational, exercise and speech therapists and a psychologist. These services are utilised by all attending Sylvanvale and are available to any other interested carers, parents or individuals.
- An award winning heated and covered Hydrotherapy pool is on site and used by schools, other disability services and the public.
- We offer children and adults with intellectual disabilities, and their families specialist care, support and therapy services focusing on the individual’s potential.
- A low cost community transport scheme operates to support clients and their families.
