Stage one of Sylvanvale’s new Early Learning and Education Service at Mikarie Place, Kirrawee was officially opened on Friday 20 November by Barry Collier MP, Member for Miranda.

The new building is a purpose-built facility for the early intervention and education needs of young children with disabilities. It has classrooms, therapy rooms and a playground.

The project received financial support from the Federal government’s Building the Education Revolution, the NSW Department of Education’s Intervention Support Program, Westfield Community Program’s Corporate Golf Day, The Rat Pack Social Club and numerous community donations. The new occupational therapy room has been named The Westfield Room, while the new speech therapy room is now known as The Rat Pack Room.

Sylvanvale Foundation CEO Pauline Stanley said: “I’m so delighted to be able to celebrate the official opening of this building and I’m pleased that it is the start of wonderful things to come. Adjacent to this building will be stage two of the project - the Integrated Child Care Centre - which will provide places for children with disabilities who would not normally be able to access long day care.

“Future donations to Sylvanvale Foundation’s Family Fund will go towards the Integrated Childcare Centre as well as the Sylvan Ridge Supported Housing Development which is a 20 bed accommodation development to meet the changing needs of adults with disabilities, planned for the Mikarie Place site,” said Ms Stanley.
