Residents from Catherine Field were treated to a red carpet premiere screening of their films, Bowling Alley Cats and DJ Aaron-From the Heart. Over 150 guests attended the premiere and all were in their finery befitting such a prestigious opening night.

The films were featured as part of Camden Council’s From Pause to Play short film project, showcasing the talents of local groups within the Camden Region. The premiere was hosted by United Cinemas in Narellan and formed part of the International Day of People with a Disability celebrations taking part all over the country. Sue Mathieson, Metro South Regional Director opened proceedings and welcomed a vocal and enthusiastic audience to enjoy the films.

Seven films were screened on the night and each covered a wide and diverse territory of genres; from horror to comedy and everything in between.  The films were a collaborative effort made by students and residents who attended a series of multimedia workshops held at Camden Creative Studios. Olev Muska, chief producer and educator said “The seven films really highlight the creativity and imagination of the filmmakers and the whole process was a wonderful and joyful experience for all.”

Our thanks go to all of the filmmakers from Macarthur Disability Services, Mater Dei, the Good News Community and our very own Catherine Field group whose ideas and creativity are a constant source of inspiration to us all. Vanessa Ferreira and Angela Pasqua from Camden Council for inviting us to participate and Olev Muska for his guidance and patience in bringing people’s dreams to celluloid.
