Sylvanvale was very proud to participate in this year’s Winter Magic Festival street parade in the Blue Mountains, with over 100 people joining our team from services across Sydney. This year’s theme focused on all things circus and we had our fair share of clowns, jugglers, magicians and even the odd animal, both wild and domestic, walking as part of our team. The parade also attracted a huge crowd of onlookers who lined the streets cheering on the parade participants.
This is the second year that Sylvanvale has joined in the parade and our numbers more than doubled from last year. The day was a huge success and we were very grateful to the Katoomba Devils footballers who assisted our wheelchair users up the steep slope of Katoomba street. Sylvanvale Director John Kelly said: “The parade is such a special community event that encourages everyone to participate and express themselves, which is something that we actively promote at Sylvanvale”.
After the parade, the teams were invited to a buffet lunch at the Carrington Hotel, which gave everyone a chance to catch their breath and share their experiences.
Sylvanvale would like to congratulate the Winter Magic festival organisers on another successful event;it was estimated that more than 40,000 people in total attended the festival over the weekend.
We would also thank organisers for all their help, the Katoomba Devils for getting behind us and enabling our wheelchair users to participate, and last but not least, the Blue Mountains community for their ongoing support.
Next year Sylvanvale hopes to have a bigger team and an even bigger presence, with many participants already planning a spectacle that will leave the crowds wanting more.
