| A Frightful 48 Hours |
|
Sylvanvale was pleased to once again enter a film into this year’s 48 hour film project and as the marketing says it certainly was a wild and sleepless weekend for our budding filmmakers and cast. Shot on location in Katoomba our team wrote, shot, edited and scored a film from scratch. This year we drew the horror genre and our film featured a cannibal banquet, belly dancing, strong men and a zombie cabaret band. The weather over the weekend certainly added to the mood of the film as the Blue Mountains was engulfed in storms, mist and fog giving a dark and sinister tone to the whole movie. This year the film was a much bigger production than last year’s Jack Thompson Encouragement Award Winner Hitch and involved a bigger cast, wardrobe, props and dialogue. With more than a passing reference to the Rocky Horror Picture Show meets the Cook, the Thief his Wife and her Lover the film is based on the story of an unfortunate and nervous young man who having been invited to dinner unknowingly ends up on the menu. The whole crew did a fantastic job and everybody showed amazing stamina and patience over the course of the shoot. John Kelly Acting CEO said: “the effort and commitment shown by everybody in making this film happen is inspirational-it’s a true team effort”. We would like to thank the management at the Clarendon Hotel and the residents of Waratah Street for allowing us to film on site. Dan Kojta, and Kalani Gacon for shooting and directing the film. Kell Taylor and band for a fantastic soundtrack, Laurice for a great job in make-up, Ian Mc Gavock for trying to maintain control and keep us to schedule and Mark, Judy, Sandra, Ingrid and Jim for getting involved and playing key roles in the film. We would also like to thank all the staff, Brendan, Daniel, Mel, John and Christian for getting behind this project and all cast and crew members; Zoe, John, Bev, Stephen, Roger, Isabella, Christian, Sue, Steve, Rachel, Adrian and JP for your tireless efforts and valued contribution. Sylvanvale would also like to thank Todarellos Fruit Market, Blue Mountains Food Services, Katoomba Music, JC Party Hire, Coles Katoomba, Lynn at Lemac, Digitech, Rose & Connie, Tim Stuart & John Crieve (and their 1959 Chevrolet Impala), Weirder the Better, Kate Soady, Las Hermanas, Gypsy Muse, the candelabra man, Tom Papas & Roberto Giunta as well as friends and families for supporting our entry this year. See you all on 9 October at the Riverside Theatres for the screening.
