Sylvanvale is joining with Best Buddies Australia and The Spastic Centre to run the first Citizens Program in New South Wales.

The Citizens Program teams a Citizen Buddy (who is a volunteer) with an adult with an intellectual disability and the two form a friendship. This friendship, like all friendships, requires a commitment from both sides that they’ll regularly see each other and keep in contact. And like all friendships, it builds over time and can be deeply rewarding for both of the ‘Buddies’.

We are recruiting a Citizens Program Manager who will work across all three organisations and the Buddy Pairs from Wetherill Park to Sutherland. Check the ‘Working With Us’ section of the website for position details.

It is hoped the program will be in full swing next month and ultimately there will be more than 50 Buddy Pairs at any given time.
