The opening of Sylvanvale’s Mikarie Child Care Centre made front page news on the St George and Sutherland Shire Leader on Tuesday 26 July 2011.

The centre was opened by the Governor of NSW, Her Excellency, Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, with the Mayor of Sutherland Shire, Councillor Phil Blight and Miranda MP Graham Annesley also attending.

The purpose-built centre is the first of its kind in the Sutherland Shire, leading the way in creating holistic and inclusive child care for all children. The centre provides 59 new child care places and meets an enormous gap in current child care service provision models by enabling families to find specialist long day care for children with disabilities in an integrated mainstream setting.
