The Sylvanvale Difference

When you join Sylvanvale Foundation you become an integral part of the team. We’re committed to creating opportunities for growth, development and learning and as a result our staff are dedicated, professional and highly skilled. We actively seek talented individuals and provide them with the chance to shine.

Apart from being a great place to work we also offer the following benefits:

Fringe benefits

As a not-for-profit organisation, we are recognised by the Australian Tax Office (ATO) as a Public Benevolent Institution and as such we are afforded concessional Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) treatment. This means that eligible employees are able to take advantage of salary packaging to receive up to $16,050 of their salary tax-free.

Learning and development opportunities

We are committed to providing an environment for all staff where they can learn, develop further skills and increase competencies.

Sylvanvale's in-house education program offers a wide range of courses responsive to the needs of our staff. We also offer nationally recognised qualifications through our traineeship scheme. Staff are encouraged to participate in external training and we support this by providing and promoting:

  • Professional development opportunities
  • Links with industry forums
  • Apprenticeship opportunities
  • Study leave
  • Conference attendance
  • Career opportunities

Sylvanvale as an organisation is continuously growing and developing and we actively encourage our staff to do the same. We have a defined career path for all staff if they seek advancement and we will support them to gain the skills and knowledge required.

We operate within a performance based framework and by offering regular supervision and appraisal we can discuss career goals and ensure they’re met. Sylvanvale's performance framework gives staff the opportunity to:

  • Discuss career goals with supervising managers
  • Identify areas for further training and development
  • Apply internally for role opportunities as they arise

Employee Assistance program

Sylvanvale's Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is available to all staff and their immediate family. It is a free service because we believe that less stress equals a happier and more productive workforce. Through the confidential service you can access professional advice to help cope with life's difficult issues. You can choose between face-to-face or telephone counselling during work hours. Telephone counselling is available 24/7. The EAP can help with:

Personal issues such as anxiety or depression, stress management, grief and loss, midlife issues, emotional or physical abuse, low self-esteem, family issues, work-life balance and concerns about children.

Relationship issues such as financial or legal problems, substance abuse (including tobacco) and domestic violence

Work issues such as problems with performance, relationships between co-workers, managing conflict, manager coaching, adjusting to change, change career, handling work stress, making career choices and dealing with traumatic events.

Flexible work arrangements and a commitment to a positive work-life balance

Sylvanvale consistently rates highly as an employer that offers flexible working opportunities and recognises that people have competing priorities outside of work due to family, study and other commitments. We support staff to manage these dual roles by offering:

  • Full time and part time employment
  • Flexible start and finish times where possible
  • Working from home opportunities
  • Study leave
  • Carer leave and family leave
  • Flexible working arrangements
