Connecting with Art – ShireABILITY Sponsorship
Sylvanvale Foundation was proud to be a sponsor of the inaugural ShireABILITY Art Awards at the end of last year.
The awards were a new opportunity open to artists with disability either living, working or going to school in the Sutherland Shire.
As an organisation committed to supporting people with disability to live the life they choose, our sponsorship was a natural fit. Participation in visual arts enables individuals with disability to use their talents and abilities to explore and express themselves, as well as connect and share.
Finalists had their works exhibited at Hazelhurst Arts Centre in Gymea.
Winners were announced at a special International Day of People with Disability event at the centre on Saturday 3 December 2022, sharing in over $2,500 worth of prizes.
ShireABILITY made such a positive impact that Sutherland Shire Council was highly commended for it in the 2023 NSW Local Government Excellence Awards, as a program that promotes diversity and inclusion.
